Renzo Carbonera

Renzo Carbonera graduated with a thesis on British director Ken Loach at the University of Padova.
He directed 10 TV documentaries, all of them broadcasted worldwide. His first fiction short film “Hemingway’s Pen”, premiered at the Mostra del Cinema di Venezia/Giornate degli Autori, selected and awarded in more than 30 international film festivals (including Raindance, Tirana, New Delhi, Naoussa, Bari BiFest).
“Resina”, his first feature film, premiered at the A-listed Montreal World Film Festival in 2017 and in Italian theatres on the 31st of Mai 2018. It was selected and awarded in more than 20 international film festivals, distributed in 15 Countries by Wide Management including US, France, Germany, China, UK, Australia and South Korea, nominated at the Italian Golden Globes and Ciak d'Oro in 2019 and ranked 6th best film released in Italy in 2018 for FICE (Federazione Italiana Cinema d’Essai-the Italian Art House Theatres and Cinemas Association). His second film "Takeaway", starring Libero De Rienzo, Carlotta Antonelli and Paolo Calabresi, premiered at the Rome Film Festival 2021 and has been released in 2022 by Fandango. "Pluto", his third film starring Andrea Pennacchi, premiered at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival 2022 and is released in 2023, theatrically and on international platforms.
Renzo is artistic director and writer for videogames, audiovisual and multimedia projects for game developer One-o-One in Rome and the Belvedere-Gschwent Foundation. The Rude Awakening has been nominated for best narrative and best videogame at the Italian Videogame Awards 2023. Jitney by August Wilson, produced by La Piccionaia, is his first theatrical stage direction.
